Penicuik's 125th anniversary

A Penicuik Athletic old boys team will be playing a Hearts Legends team at Penicuik Park on Sunday 18th August - KO 3.00pm.

The match has been arranged as part of the celebrations to mark 125 years since the first Penicuik Athletic were formed in the community.

Penicuik Athletic re-entered the Junior grade in 1951 following their time in the East of Scotland League before and after the Second World War.

A Hibs legends team, spearheaded by a still impressive Kevin Harper and including the likes of Gordon Hunter, Keith Wright and Mickey Weir, has already played a highly successful match at Penicuik Park as part of the celebrations.

An Anniversary Dinner is being held in Shottstown Miners Welfare in Penicuik on Saturday 7th September where the guest speakers are Eric Davidson, George McNeill and Donald Finlay QC. Over 100 former Penicuik Athletic players are expected to attend.
