VICS SIGN DONOVAN

Whitletts Victoria are delighted to announce the signing of Thomas Donovan.

The 27 year striker started last season Saltcoats Victoria before joining Ardrossan Winton Rovers where he scored eight goals in seventeen matches, bringing him to the attention of many clubs.

There was plenty of interest in the player, including from the Premiership but he has elected to sign for Whitletts. He becomes manager, George Grierson’s, third signing of the new season following the arrivals of Darren McIntyre and Paul Millar.

A delighted Grierson revealed that he tried to keep Donovan at Saltcoats last season when he took over as manager at Campbell Park.

“Thomas is a player I know well. He was at Saltcoats briefly when I arrived as manager and tried hard to keep him before he joined up with Winton.”

“He is a very talented footballer with an eye for goal and its’ not surprising that so many clubs, including Premier League clubs, were interested in him.”

“So to get him at Dam Park, which is a pitch that I think he will realish playing on, is a fantastic signing for the club and I’m looking forward to him developing an understanding with Adam Forsyth that I believe will bear fruit for Whitletts next season.”

Grierson revealed that is still looking to bolster his squad further as the Dam Park side prepare for life in the Championship.

"We have been hit hard by injuries this pre-season as well as the loss of Graeme Barbour and Craig Fisher due to work commitments so I am still looking to add to our squad and hope to make at least one more signing ahead of the season kicking off this weekend."
