Morton U20 Players avaiable on loan

Morton boss, Jim Duffy, is looking to send out seven members of the Greenock club’s Development Squad on loan to learn more about the game in the manner he did at Maryhill Juniors.

Duffy was signed by Celtic as a 19 year old after starring at a Junior level and the Cappielow boss reckons that the experience he gained playing against adult opposition every week helped him to go on and have a long playing career.

He now wants his Morton kids to develop in the same way as he explained:
“I learnt a lot both about being a footballer and being an adult during my time at Maryhill. Playing every week against experienced players gave me an insight into the game that stood me in good stead.”

“Our young players are doing well in the Development League however they now need more that midweek matches at an under-20 level. I would like them to go out and gain experience playing at a junior level as well as playing in development games. Loan moves can help them do that.”

Duffy added:
“I would reckon that the players would learn loads between now and the end of the season in a competitive environment amongst players who know their way about a football pitch.”
