Whitletts Vics - New Manager

WHITLETTS VICTORIA APPOINT RIKKI RYLAND AS MANAGER

Whitletts Victoria are delighted to announce that Rikki Ryland has accepted the position of manager of the Club.

40 year old Ryland returns to the Club where he spent the best part of a decade as a player, coach and assistant manager and is looking forward to the challenge of taking the Club back to the Superleague.

Whitletts Chairman John Dalton said that the Club were delighted to get their man.

“There was a lot of interest in the manager’s position with some quality candidates under consideration and I’d like to thank each and every one of them for their interest in the post.”

“Rikki is a young manager, but he is someone who we know well and who knows the club well having spent a large part of his career with Whitletts as a player, coach and assistant manager. While he was here previously the Club won promotion to the Superleague and he has coached at that level for three years so he knows what is required to get us back there”

“He has the drive, ambition and determination to succeed and knows what he wants to achieve in the game and his knowledge of the game along with these other factors will be key to taking the Club forward.”

Ryland, who resigned as manager of Saltcoats Victoria to rejoin Whitletts has also announced that current Vics’ skipper Graham Longair has agreed to become his assistant at the Dam Park club.

“I have a great affection for Whitletts Victoria from my time there as a player and a coach and I am delighted to be appointed as manager and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”

“I am also delighted that Graham Longair has agreed to become my assistant. I’ve known Graham from my days at Whitletts and he was club captain when we won promotion. We have very similar views on the game and look forward to working with him again to take the Club forward.”

“There is a squad of very talented players at Whitletts and I can’t wait to get out onto the training pitch with them to see what we can achieve.”
