SKIPPER AWARDED TESTIMONIAL

Whitletts Victoria captain Graham Longair has been awarded a testimonial match in recognition of his 10 years of service for the Dam Park side. The announcement was made at a club function on Saturday night where Testimonial Committee Chairman Andrew Downie announced that Ayr United had agreed to provide the opposition for Graham’s testimonial match.

“Graham is a big Ayr United supporter” said Andrew, “and I am delighted to announce that Ayr United have agreed to provide the opposition for Graham’s testimonial on a date still to be agreed.”
“However before that, on June 1st, as a warm to that match, a team selected by Graham himself will play Dukla Pumpherston, the charity team made up of former players, pundits and other celebrities.”

During his time at the Club, Graham skippered the side to promotion from the Ayrshire District League in 2009, a feat he hopes to repeat this season.

“Winning promotion to the Superleague with Whitletts has been the highlight of my time at the club to date but I’d love to be able to repeat that this season. Obviously we are outsiders in the promotion race but all we can do is to concentrate on our own game and see what happens elsewhere.”
“We’re also in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup. In my time here we’ve reached the last 16 of the competition but never the quarter finals and for the Club that is a fantastic achievement. And on Saturday we’ll certainly be giving it our best to reach the semi finals.”

JIMPY’ MOVES ON

Whitletts midfielder James Davidson has joined Ayrshire District League rivals Saltcoats Victoria. Everyone at Whitletts Victoria thank ‘Jimpy’ for his years of service for the Club and wish him all the best with his new club
