WHITLETTS VICTORIA SIGN TONY BALFOUR

Whitletts Victoria have started their rebuilding process for the new season by completing the signing of striker Tony Balfour from Ayrshire District League rivals Craigmark Burntonians on a two year deal.

Balfour was the top goalscorer for the Dalmellington side last season and his goalscoring feats attracted the interest of other junior clubs from the Superleague Premier and First Division. However Balfour decided his future lay with his local club where he believes there is an exciting future ahead.

“I had offers to go elsewhere but manager Steph McMillan told me of the plans that Whitletts have, not just to gain promotion back to the Superleague but of longer term ambitions. There is an exciting future ahead for Whitletts and I’m delighted to be a part of it” said Tony.

Manager Steph McMillan was also delighted to get his man. “Tony is an exciting young player and I’m over the moon that he has decided to join Whitletts. We are looking to bounce back from the disappointment of last season and challenge for promotion to the Superleague next term and Tony will play a vital part in our campaign. He is a quality striker who is capable of playing at a higher level but he is also a local lad who believes that he can meet his own personal ambitions with the Club and help us to meet ours.”

Meanwhile the Vics boss has also re-signed some of the key players in his squad from last season as the Ayr club seek promotion from the Ayrshire District League. Skipper Graham Longair, along with Lee Holland, Elliot Duffy, Dominic Boyle and Marc Cameron have all signed on for the next two years with other key players from last season set to agree new deals in the coming weeks.
