Buchanan makes switch to East Stirling

BUCHANAN TO MAKE ‘SHIRE SWITCH
Influential defender Raymond Buchanan will join SFL Third Division side East Stirling when the senior transfer window opens on 1stJanuary.

The move comes after Whitletts Victoria and East Stirling agreed an undisclosed fee that met Vics’ valuation of the player.

Vics’ Chairman Colin McTrusty said that the deal was the right one for both the player and the Club.
“Raymond has been with Whitletts Victoria for the past five seasons and given us tremendous service and everyone at the Club wishes him all the best for his big chance in the senior ranks. He is a talented footballer and deserves his chance and there is no doubt that he has the ability to play in the senior game. The only surprise is that it has taken this long for him to get his chance”

Buchanan has played in three trial matches for ‘Shire and is expected to play for the Club in their crucial match against Stirling Albion on Wednesday once the deal is completed and McTrusty complemented the Ochilview club for their conduct during the negotiations.

“Sometimes the bigger junior and senior clubs can try and bully clubs into selling players for less than their true market value but no matter the situation, the priority of our board has, first and foremost, to be what is in the best interests of Whitletts Victoria.

However East Stirling and their manager John Coughlin conducted themselves in a professional manner throughout the negotiations and are a credit to their club and I am sure that Raymond will prove to be a valuable asset to them.”
