Whitletts Vics Receive SFA Quality Mark Award

Ayr’s junior football club, Whitletts Victoria, have been recognised by the Scottish Football Association for their organisation, desire and ambition when they were recently awarded the SFA Standard Quality Mark .

The Award, made in partnership with McDonald’s, recognises clubs who have the ambition to be bigger, better and stronger by driving higher standards to increase the support and development of coaches, players and volunteers as well as improving management, development structures, administration, planning and welfare.

SFA Regional Manager John Brown expressed his delight  at the award “For many of the clubs like Whitletts Victoria, being recognised as a Quality Mark club is a key component of their vision and ethos, and for others who are just starting the journey it has helped them think more about planning for the future and becoming more sustainable.

Regional Club Development Manager Graeme Mathie  added "It has been a pleasure working with Whitletts Victoria over this past year. It is always amazing to see the amount of time and effort people are prepared to give on a voluntary basis just to let people play football, and the awards night is a great way to say thank you to the great people who make it happen.”

“In all our visits to see best practice across Europe one thing becomes clear - good clubs are connected by one thing - good people, and we are very fortunate to be working with a lot of good people not just at Whitletts Victoria but throughout the South West Region who work so hard to develop the game."

The award was received on behalf of Whitletts Victoria by Vice Chairman Andrew McKissock who said “In recent years a lot of hard work has been done by a lot of people to turn around the fortunes of Whitletts Victoria and this award is for them. I believe that we are now beginning to reap the rewards of all that hard work but there is still an awful lot of hard work to be done to get to where we want to take the club and the support of the local community is vital in that respect to enable us to continue to progress both on and off the park.”
