Kids go free at Whitletts

Ayr junior club, Whitletts Victoria, have continued their campaign to promote Junior Football by announcing that children under the age of 16 will be admitted FREE to all home league matches this season.

Whitletts, who start their Ayrshire District League campaign this Saturday with a home game against Ardrossan Winton Rovers at Dam Park, hope that the move will attract younger supporters to the junior game as the club continue their drive to promote junior football.

The move follows the success of allowing free entry to the Clubs’ two recent home Ardagh Cup matches against Girvan and Craigmark in conjunction with the Ayr Advertiser but this time youngsters will not require to hand over a voucher to get in for free. All they need to do is just turn up on the day.

“Our voucher scheme with the Ayr Advertiser proved to be a success with a number of new faces taking the opportunity to attend the games and we hope that they will return to Dam Park on a more frequent basis to support the club” said Whitletts CEO, Colin McTrusty.

“However no matter where Whitletts Victoria are playing, it is noticeable that there are not many youngsters attending the matches and we want to try and change that. Obviously the number of live football matches on TV is a factor but that is no substitute for attending a live match and we hope that by taking this course of action, we will attract more young people to come and watch Whitletts Victoria and junior football.”

“We fully appreciate how difficult things are for many people in these trying economic times but we hope to get the message across that for entertainment, junior football provides excellent value for money. “

“It can cost £22 for an adult to watch an SPFL match at Rugby Park and if you’ve a couple of kids, buy a programme your half time pie and Bovril plus something for the kids, you’re not going to get much change if any, out of £50”

“But to come to Dam Park, it would cost only a £4 entry for an adult with the kids get in for free. The adults can enjoy a drink in our bar or a Pie and Bovril from the club shop. The kids can get a coke and a packet of crisps, enjoy a competitive, hard fought and entertaining game of football and then watch the results from the senior games come in live on our TV screen, all for a fraction of the cost of attending an SPFL match.”

“Junior football has a lot to offer and provides fantastic value for money and we hope that this offer will attract more people to the junior game.”
