Whitletts search for new Manager

WHITLETTS VICTORIA PART COMPANY WITH MANAGER

Whitletts Victoria have parted company with manager Brian Delaney.

The move came following a meeting between Club chairman Colin McTrusty and Delaney after Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to Rutherglen Glencairn that left the Ayr club rooted to the bottom of the Superleague First Division and still searching for their first league win of the season.

Chairman Colin McTrusty has vowed that the search for a new manager will begin with immediate effect and that this time the Club will be looking for a figure with local knowledge to turn around the clubs’ fortunes.

“It is with deep regret that Brian has left the club. Brian came to the club full of ambition and drive to succeed. He is a quality coach but this is a results driven business and the league table does not lie. It is the ambition of Whitletts Victoria to become a genuine community football club, Ayr’s junior team and while the board are working hard to turn around the clubs’ fortunes off the park, results and events on the park did not realise that ambition.”

“We are currently 10 points adrift of safety in the league and with four clubs relegated, the prospect of a return to the Ayrshire District League after a five year absence is a reality check that now needs to be addressed. As a result we now have to rethink our whole business plan and there is no doubt that relegation would be a major blow to our ambitions.”

“The fact that Brian was appointed manager of the Club is testament to how highly we regarded him as a coach and we wish him every success in whatever role he takes up in the game in the future. But the board’s priority has to be Whitletts Victoria and the search will start immediately for a new manager who has a strong knowledge of the local football scene in Ayrshire and the drive and ambition to turn around the clubs’ fortunes.”
