Sky Sports Victory Shield
Wales 0-0 Scotland
Airbus FC, The Airfield, Broughton

Scotland under-16s were held to a goalless draw in Wales tonight in their opening match of the Sky Sports Victory Shield.

The young Scots next match in the competition is away to Northern Ireland on 4 November before finishing off with a home game against England on 25 November.

Scotland started the game well and looked most lively of the two sides.

Tom Walsh drilled an effort straight Welsh goalkeeper Gareth Owen on 22 minutes whilst Liam Wales went close shortly after for the hosts but his shot went narrowly over the bar.

Craig Storie also went close for Ross Mathie's side but his curling shot on 28 minutes went just wide of the post.

Shortly before the break, Paul McMullan had a shot at goal after making a good run nut the sides went in goalless at half time.

Early in the second half McMullan caused more trouble in the Welsh defence and he teed up Walsh on 55 minutes but the young Rangers forward's shot was off target.

Kyle Copp then went close for Wales but his shot went just wide of Jordan Hart's goal.

Wales almost nicked all three points on 70 minutes when Copp's strike seemed destined for the top corner but Hart mad a fantastic one-handed save and turned the ball over the bar.
